Medicare Savings Programs

Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs) are programs operated by Medicaid. The program helps people with low income or resources pay for certain medical services. It helps people eligible to access the Medicare programs. Medicare Savings Programs can be divided into four categories. Each category has different resource eligibility limits and income. They include:
Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB)
You can qualify for this if you have lower than 100 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and resources below $8,400 or $12,600 if married. If you are eligible, Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) will pay for Medicare premiums (Part A, and Part B) [6], copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. eligible, QMB will cover the Medicare premiums (Part A, if applicable, and Part B), deductibles, copayments and/or coinsurance. The monthly income limit includes a $20 general income. The limits in Alaska and Hawaii are a bit higher: The monthly limit for Residents of 48 states & District of Columbia is $1,153 for singles and $1,546 for married couples. In Alaska, it is $1,436 for singles and $1,928 for married couples. In Hawaii, it is 1,323 for singles and $1,775 for married couples.
