Dog Pancreatitis: Symptoms and What to Do

Dehydration

Dehydration is majorly due to higher fluid loss than fluid intake. Loss of water is an important sign to look out for. The inability of the pancreas to perform certain metabolic activities reduces the amount of energy present in the body. Dogs make use of the energy stores in their system and after a while, the stored energy is exhausted, which causes loss of water. Dogs can go approximately 3-4 without water, after which they begin to show signs of pancreatitis. Their eyes become weak and could collapse if the dehydration is severe. They also exhibit dry noses. The absence of water in dogs should be immediately reported to a vet to prevent further complications.
