Do Not Eat Sauces with Added Sugars

There are some regular cooking ingredients such as barbecue sauce, ketchup, and sweet chili sauce that you will find in most kitchens. However, most people don’t know that they have high sugar content.
A 1-tablespoon (17-gram) serving of ketchup contains about 1 teaspoon (5 grams) of sugar. That means ketchup is a whopping 29% sugar, more sugary than ice cream.
It is best to opt for condiments and sauces labeled “no added sugar” to cut back on the hidden sugars in these products.
There are also some other options for seasoning your food that are naturally low in added sugars that you can opt for. They include:
- Herbed and spices
- Mustard
- Chili
- Pesto
- Vinegar
- Mayonnaise
- Lime juice
