Sometimes the most significant observation on your mammogram is a subtle change that occurred over time which cannot be detected without the advantages of comparison. You can also avoid unnecessary additional views or tests if a finding is observed now, but can be shown to be unchanged over a long period. It is best to go to the same facility regularly, because it is easier to compare results from year to year.
