Brain Tumor

Certain types of tumors can cause people to experience seizures. Epileptic seizures are common in patients with primary and secondary malignant brain tumors. It is the major sign of a tumor in up to 50 percent [8] of these patients. Seizures are more common in low-grade [9] or benign brain tumors. Seizures due to brain tumors are caused by the excessive firing of neurons surrounding the tumor.
Tumors, like many cancers, often progress without any symptoms for a long time. Many people with brain tumors will only discover it after imaging following a seizure. Usually, the seizures only stop when the brain tumor has been removed. This isn’t always the case. In some people seizures will continue after tumor removal or develop later. This may be diagnosed as epilepsy.
