7 Main Causes of Seizures

High Fevers

Seizures may develop in people following a high fever. These kinds of seizures are often caused by a viral infection, such as influenza, and are known as febrile seizures. Febrile seizures sometimes accompany even low-grade fevers.

This kind of seizure is most frequently seen in young children between the ages of six months and five years [10]. Prevalence is highest in babies less than two years old. Some people also have a high tendency to develop febrile seizures due to family history.

Febrile seizures are often passing. They do not result in brain damage or intellectual impairment. Experiencing febrile seizures does not mean your child will go on to have epilepsy.
