Allergic to Electricity: Is It Possible?

Treatment for Perceived Electromagnetic Sensitivity

Since EHS is not a recognized diagnosis, there is no established course of treatment. A doctor can still take a number of steps to reduce your symptoms.

The World Health Organization (WHO) [5] states that the following actions should be taken as some parts of treatment:

Treatment of Underlying Conditions

A medical evaluation will probably be the first step a doctor takes to understand your problems. The objective is to identify and handle any illnesses that could be the source of your symptoms.

The doctor will examine you physically, ask you questions, and take note of any medical history you have. They can also suggest that you see a specialist or request blood tests.

Therapy

You might be asked to consult with a mental health expert. They are able to recognize and treat underlying psychological issues that can be causing some of your symptoms.

You can regulate your concerns about EMFs by using the following advice from a mental health professional:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [6]
  • Self-Help Groups
  • Exposure Therapy    [7]
