Asphyxiation: Causes, Symptoms, Treatments and More

Anaphylaxis

A severe allergic reaction to a food, medication, or insect sting is known as anaphylaxis.

Anaphylaxis causes the body to misinterpret a substance as an invader. Your immune system produces antibodies, which release chemicals that result in symptoms like swelling, hives, or breathing difficulties.

You may also experience swelling in the upper airways. If left untreated, the swelling may worsen and impair breathing.
