Causes of chronic inflammation

Inflammation can be teased to several causes, including:
- An autoimmune disorder, which involves the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues
- Untreated causes of acute inflammation, such as an infection or injury
- Exposure to irritants for a long period, like polluted air or industrial chemicals.
Note that these issues do not cause chronic inflammation in everyone. Also, some cases of chronic inflammation do not have a clear underlying cause.
According to experts, chronic inflammation may also be caused by a range of factors, such as:

- Chronic stress
- Alcohol consumption
