Increased Blood Pressure and Mood Swings

Potassium has a relaxing effect on blood vessels, therefore, if it is deficient, the vessels can be spasmodic, which, in turn, leads to an increase in blood pressure [10]. Sodium is a potassium antagonist. It retains water in the body. If there is a lack of potassium in the body, sodium immediately builds up, which increases the water content in the body, and therefore blood pressure.
Above normal blood pressure is a harbinger of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, decreased libido and neurological disorders.
Since potassium plays an important role in the normalization of brain function [11], its lack can be reflected in our emotional state. If you notice unreasonable mood changes in yourself, the problem may be a lack of minerals.
It is worth noting that eating processed foods is often associated with a lack of potassium in the body due to the fact that such foods are high in sodium. Reducing your intake of processed foods and snacks, and increasing the amount of healthy foods in your diet can help eliminate potassium deficiency in your body.
Note that in women, symptoms of potassium deficiency often occur due to adherence to various diets, diuretics and laxatives. And in men, symptoms of potassium deficiency appear as a result of significant physical activity and alcohol abuse.
