Delicate skin

You might notice that you have delicate skin if you have EDS. You could be more prone to cuts, bruising, and sluggish healing of wounds. This is brought on by low levels of collagen in the skin, just like with skin elasticity.
People that have classic EDS may experience injuries that open with little bleeding and leave obvious scars that open over time. Some people refer to these as “cigarette paper scars.”
Common symptoms of classic EDS include:
- Skin that bruises easily
- Muscle pain
- Muscle fatigue
- Redundant skin fold on the eyes
- benign growths on pressure areas, like elbows and knees
- Heart valve problems
