Feeling Hot but No Fever: What It Means And What To Do

Exercise or Strenuous Activity

Exercising or doing strenuous activities can increase your body’s heat especially if you:

  • Don’t exercise regularly.
  • Do more than what is needed.
  • Do them in hot or humid environments.

The CDC discovered that athletes that train in hot weather should check for heat-related illnesses and to not train if they feel weak or faint. Stay away from exercise at the hottest times of the day and drink more fluid. Studies show that pacing may help people avoid getting too hot during exercise.

Food and Drink

Certain foods and drinks can make you feel hotter than usual. Examples are:

  • Alcohol
  • Spicy food
  • Food and beverages with a high temperature
  • Caffeine

You may feel extra hot in your skin or sweat more than normal, during and after consuming these foods.
