How to Identify Insect (Bug) Bites?

Bedbug Bites

Bites from bedbugs are common. Bedbugs are small red insects shaped like apple seeds which are commonly found in old furniture such as chairs, sofa, and beds. Bed bugs usually bite areas of the body that are left uncovered such as the neck, hands, or feet.

Bed bug bites may be accompanied by a prickling sensation that is most often followed by itching. It is common for individuals not to notice bed bug bites on their bodies for a few days. This is because bed bug saliva contains anesthetic substances that numb the area of the bite as well as promote blood flow to the site of the bite.

Bed bug bites are usually small red rashes [1] that appear in clusters or a line. The bites are itchy and may cause hives. Unlike many insects, bed bugs are not disease carriers. Their bites can be treated with antihistamines or cortisone creams.
