Bone marrow transplant
Bone marrow transplant is suggested for people whose white blood cell counts are dangerously low. This treatment is usually reserved for people who have an illness like cancer. During a bone marrow transplant, defective bone marrow is removed and replaced with a healthy one. This procedure helps increase white blood cell counts because blood cell production takes place in the bone marrow.
There are three primary ways [9] to conduct this procedure: autologous, allogeneic, and syngeneic. In an autologous transplant, doctors remove the bone marrow, treat it to kill defective cells, then return it. In an allogeneic transplant, the patient receives a bone marrow given by a matching donor like their sibling or child. Syngeneic transplants are less common because the bone marrow is donated by the patient’s identical twin.
