Severe crusting
It’s quite normal for scabs and crust to form on your wound after hair transplantation. But severe scabbing or crust formation can lead to itchiness which may then compel you to scratch your scalp. This could lead to you removing the crusts and transferring bacteria to your open wounds, increasing your risk of infection. You should see your doctor in case of severe crusting to avoid itching and transferring bacteria.
Weakened immune system
A weekend immune system could also contribute to infection during or after a hair transplant. This is because minor bacteria attacks that could be easily defeated by the immune system won’t be. So, before you undergo a hair transplant, you should be sure that your immune system is at its topmost capabilities. Things that may cause a weakened immune system include smoking, obesity, and pregnancy.
Underlying medical conditions
Underlying medical conditions that weaken the immune system can also aid infection during or after a hair transplant procedure. You should be watchful of these illnesses and may be advised by your doctor not to undergo the procedure if you are experiencing any illness that weakens your immune system. Some medical conditions that weaken your immune system include high blood pressure, HIV, cancer, diabetes [3], malnutrition, severe obesity [4]…
If you have any of these conditions you should speak to your doctor about it.
