Neem: Benefits, Side Effects, Uses, and More

Health benefits and uses of neem

Although there is still ongoing research and study on Neem, it shows promise of several aspects of health including managing different organs in the body such as kidneys, liver, teeth, and skin as well as blood sugar management.

Improves hair health

Azadirachtin, an active ingredient found in neem seed extract, may be effective against parasites that affect the skin and hair, including lice [1]. Azadirachtin inhibits parasite growth and interferes with biological functions such as reproduction.

Leaving neem-based shampoo in the hair for 10 minutes eliminates the lice while being gentle on the skin, according to a study that examined the effectiveness of a neem-based shampoo on head lice in children.

Neem also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities that may cause its extract to be useful in treating dandruff.
