Neem: Benefits, Side Effects, Uses, and More

Antimalarial effects

Limonoids are the active ingredients found in neem. According to a mouse study, limonoids may be just as efficient as chloroquine-based conventional treatments at destroying malaria-infected cells.

However, other test-tube research indicate that neem extract has little beneficial impact on malaria results.

Remember that neem is currently not a commonly used malaria treatment.

Possible side effects and risks

Although neem products are obtained from natural sources, they are not inherently safe for human use. Therefore, it is important to use Neem products with caution.

Neem seed extracts comprises various fatty acids and about 2% bitters, which are considered toxic. Levels of these bitters differ between products and may be influenced by extraction and storage methods.
