Proper Number of Calories Intake for Different Persons

Number of Calories for Women and Children

Data from NHS [8] recommends females consume around 2,000 calories a day. This number is recommended for women falling within the ages of 26-50. For more active women who exercise, a higher number of calories of up to 2,200 per day is recommended.

If you are a younger woman in your early 20s, you may also need up to 2,200 calories per day to maintain your body weight. Women above the age range of 50 generally need a lower number of calories and the recommended number is 1,800 per day.

Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers would need a much higher calorie intake than all the stated estimates, as the need to provide a highly nutritious diet for the fetus or young child is important.

According to Healthline [9], most toddlers would need between 1,200 – 1,400 calories a day. Teenagers on the other hand would require more calorie intake of about 2,000 – 2,800 calories a day.
