These are tips to follow when trying to make suggestion during self-hypnosis

  1. Say it with confidence: when saying those words, you should imagine them gently but with conviction. You should ensure the tone is reassuring, confident and positive.
  2. Phrase suggestions in the present tense: saying “I am confident” will be more effective than “I will be confident” because the word “am” is in the present tense and shows more confidence.
  3. Say positive suggestions: it is important to make positive suggestions. For example, saying “I am successful” is better than saying “I am not a failure”. Tell yourself the things you want to do and achieve not the things you don’t want to be.
  4. Make suggestions realistic: try making affirmations that feel realistic. One of the greatest threats to not seeing the benefits of self-hypnosis is setting over-ambitious goals. say things like “I will eat more vegetables and exercise regularly” instead of “I will lose weight regularly”
  5. Repeat the suggestion: say the suggestions several times during the hypnosis. Repeating an idea can help drive home the point.
