Relieve Pain, Inflammation and Possible Anti-cancer Application

Myrrh oil has powerful pain-relieving properties [13] that can be used in alleviating headaches, back and joint pain. It can also help with inflammation by inhibiting the production of the inflammatory compounds that cause swelling.
In a six-month study [14], people who took supplements containing pain-relieving compounds present in myrrh experienced a two-thirds reduction in their headache pain.
Myrrh oil can be applied topically. There are claims that this is effective in relieving pain, but the claims haven’t been substantiated by scientific evidence. More research is needed to confirm this.
Some in vitro studies [15] suggest that myrrh oil may be useful in killing or inhibiting the growth of breast, prostate, liver, and skin cancer cells. In another study [16], myrrh was useful in stopping the replication of gynecological cancer cells.
More research is needed to confirm its potential use in cancer therapies. No studies on the subject have been completed in humans, but these initial finds are promising.
