Hearing aids vary in size, special features and the way they are placed in the ear. There is now a great demand foe hearing aids that are not easily noticeable but a smaller hearing aid may not be powerful enough to give you the required hearing you need.
There are two basic types of hearing aids with many different aids; In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids [4] and Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids [5]. ITE aids are worn in the ear canal and are usually custom-fit. BTE aids sit behind or on top of the outer ear with a tube that send sound down into the ear canal.
Common in-the-ear styles include
- Invisible in the canal (IIC)
- Completely in the canal (CIC)
- In the canal (ITC)
- Low profile hearing aids
Common behind-the-ear styles include
- Receiver in the ear (RITE)
- Behind the ear with ear mold
