Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms

Bone Pain

Vitamin D is important for building strong, healthy bones. According to many studies, there is a link between vitamin D deficiency and pain in the bones and lower back. [8] One study established that people who were deficient in vitamin D were twice as likely to complain of pain in the bones of the legs, joints, and ribs compared to those who were not deficient. [9]

A study involving over 9,000 older women examined the relationship between back pain and vitamin D deficiency. [10] The study revealed that the women who had low levels of vitamin D were more likely to experience back pain than those with normal levels. Sometimes this back pain was debilitating and prevented them from carrying out their normal activities.
