It May Help Lower Cholesterol Levels

High cholesterol levels can contribute to the development of several cardiovascular conditions. Too much cholesterol in the blood increases the risk of heart disease. It can block blood vessels or form plaque on arterial walls, leading to stroke or atherosclerosis. Of the two main types of cholesterol, low-density cholesterol (LDL) is considered harmful and increases the risk of these conditions.

An animal study found that celery extract lowered the levels of LDL in rodents put on a high-fat diet. [12] Another study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry also found that celery fibers may help reduce LDL levels. [13]

More research using humans is needed to confirm the significance of these benefits.
