Where Do Chiggers Live?

Chiggers are often found in tall weeds and grass, wooded lands and berry patches. They can also be found in the lake, backyard, and hiking paths. Chiggers are dangerous in warm and cosy temperatures like summer, fall, and spring afternoons.
In most cases, they jump on your skin when you pass through or touch their habitat. The insect is less dangerous or inactive at temperatures below 16°C or 60°F. They cannot live in places where the temperature is less than 6°C or 42°F.
Chiggers are tiny insects that can only be seen with a magnifying glass. Adults possess eight legs and are around 1/60 of an inch. The younger forms are wingless, red and six-legged, smaller than 1/150 inch. Due to the red colour, the younger conditions are easy to observe when they stick together. In most cases, they turn yellow after feeding on the skin.
