Avoid Darker-Colored Alcoholic Beverages

Studies have shown that colorless liquors such as gin and vodka cause hangovers less that dark ones like whiskey, red wine and tequila. The main form of alcohol in alcoholic beverages is ethanol, but darker alcohols contain other biologically active compounds called congeners such as methanol. The same enzyme catabolizes ethanol and methanol, but the products in methanol are more toxic so they cause worse hangover.
Hangover symptoms are self-diagnosable and the treatment given depends on their severity. A severe hangover could mean alcohol poisoning and may need a doctor’s attention immediately.
