Faslodex: Uses, Dosage, Side Effects

Faslodex is a drug that is prescribed for the treatment of breast cancer [1] in female adults. It is a hormone therapy drug that contains fulvestrant as its active ingredient.

Uses

Faslodex is a drug that is used to treat some kinds of hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer in female adults. Breast cancer occurs due to abnormal division and growth of the cells in the breast. Faslodex is a medication that helps to reduce the amount of estrogen [2] in the blood which is the major hormone that stimulates the development of HR+ breast cancer in females.

Faslodex is used for the treatment of breast cancer in the following ways:

  • For the treatment of advanced breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive: Faslodex can be used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women. At this stage, the previous hormone therapy drug must have failed.
  • For the treatment of advanced breast cancer that is HR+ and HER2 negative (Human epidermal growth factor receptor).
  • It can be used with other drugs like Kisqali [3] to treat advanced and metastatic breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have not used any other hormone therapy drug.
