Faslodex: Uses, Dosage, Side Effects

How Does It Work?

Breast cancer results when there is an abnormal growth of cells in the breast. In hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, estrogen is the major hormone that stimulates the growth of this cancer. It does this by activating some enzymes called cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) [4] which are important enzymes in cell growth. When these enzymes are activated by estrogen, the cancerous cells grow and multiply rapidly.

When Faslodex is used, it helps to prevent estrogen from attaching to the estrogen receptor in the cells. It does this by attaching to the estrogen receptor on the cell, thereby preventing estrogen from attaching. This helps to reduce the way cancerous cells grow.
