Interactions

Interactions may occur between hydroxyzine and other medications. This interaction affects how this drug functions or increases its side effects. It is important to keep a list of all the drugs you use and tell your healthcare provider about them. You must use the drugs as prescribed by your doctor.
If you are using other drugs that can induce drowsiness, such as cough relievers (hydrocodone, and codeine), marijuana, muscle relaxants (like carisoprodol, and cyclobenzaprine), alcohol, anxiety or sleep medications ( zolpidem, lorazepam, and alprazolam), and other types of antihistamine like promethazine, and diphenhydramine.
Avoid using hydroxyzine with other antihistamines that are applied to the skin, like spray, ointment, diphenhydramine. This is because these products can make you more susceptible to side effects.
Since Hydroxyzine has similar functions as levocetirizine and cetirizine, your doctor may advise you to stay away from them.
