Drug Interactions

Drug interactions can affect the normal function of this drug. It is advisable to inform your physician if you are on any medication. Doing this will help to prevent the adverse effects of drug interactions.

Many drugs interact with prednisone. Some of them are;

  • Cyclosporine
  • Diuretic drugs
  • Digoxin
  • Birth control pills
  • Blood thinners such as Warfarin [6]
  • Amphotericin B
  • John wort
  • antibiotics such as clarithromycin or telithromycin
  • hepatitis C medications Boceprevir or telaprevir
  • insulin or diabetes medication (such as metformin)
  • seizure medications such as carbamazepine, fosphenytoin, oxcarbazepine, primidone, phenytoin
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) such as aspirin, ibuprofen, meloxicam, naproxen, and indomethacin.
  • Tuberculosis medications such as rifabutin, isoniazid
  • Antifungal medication such as ketoconazole, voriconazole, parconazole, itraconazole
  • HIV or AIDS drugs such as indinavir, nelfinavir, delavirdine, fosamprenavir, atazanavir
