Side Effects of Actemra: What You Need to Know

Liver Problems (Hepatotoxicity)

Over the years patients have experienced serious life-threatening liver problems, which required liver transplant or caused death. Doctors always advise patients to stop using Actemra once they notice the development of any new or exacerbating liver problem when using Actemra. Presence of any of these symptoms should be taken seriously and reported to a doctor immediately; fatigue, persistent loss of appetite (anorexia), dark urine (tea colored),  skin color changing to yellow or eyes to white (Jaundice), light colored stools, weakness, vomiting and nausea, mental retardation, anxiety and abdominal swelling and pain on the right side of the stomach area. Patients with preexisting liver problems are advised to not take Actemra, because it could worsen it. Usage with Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs could also worsen liver problems.
