Precautions

- Talk to your doctor about your allergy to opiates or if you are on any form of medications containing opiates or any ingredients contained in tramadol. Also, tell your doctor about your non-prescription drugs like vitamins and supplements and any herbal drug.
- You can take tramadol with or without food, depending on the instruction given by the doctor.
- Avoid taking alcoholic drinks or any beverage containing alcohol to reduce the risk of side effects
- If your recommended medication is the extended-release tablet, take the tablet whole, do not crush, break or chew to avoid serious problems like overdose or even death.
- Do not allow any other person to use your drug.
- Communicate with your doctor, if you have to undergo any surgery that you are using tramadol.
- Tramadol causes fertility issues for men and women, speak with your medical personnel on the proper usage to reduce the risk of such problems.
- If you have a history of phenylketonuria (PKU), follow the recommended diet for you.
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember but if it is close to the time of the next dose, continue for dosage and don’t double dose.
- Attend all appointments with your doctor and go for every laboratory test to proper check the body’s response to the tablet.
- Keep the tablet in the container it came in, tightly closed and keep it out of reach of children.
