Hair Loss after Bariatric Surgery – What to Know

Telogen effluvium

The factors mentioned above are some of the factors responsible for hair loss and telogen effluvium. You may experience Telogen effluvium a few months after a great change to your body. After surgery, your body tends to move nutrients from your hair to some organs. The condition occurs when a large portion of your hair enters the dormant phase or the telogen phase. Unlike the anagen phase, your hair doesn’t grow in the dormant phase. Your hair stops growing for a long period and then starts to fall out after 3 or 4 months. In some cases, it starts to fall out sooner. The hair loss isn’t permanent and it does not cause obvious bald spots. However, your hair will be shed more frequently.
