How to determine the cryosurgery method that will be used

There are different approaches to cryotherapy. The method used will depend on the location of the abnormal tissue. Whether it is internal or external.
- External: if the abnormal tissue can be seen with the eye that is on the skin. Your doctor will simply apply the nitrogen using a spraying device or cotton swab on the area. At the end of it, your frozen skin will peel off allowing healthier skin to grow.
- Internally located: if the abnormal tissue is located inside the body it could be a tumor or precancerous cell. In this case, your surgeon will make use of a cryoprobe (a device used to apply nitrogen to the internal organ) [6]. This device is inserted into the body through an incision. During the procedure, your immune system absorbs the tissue.
