Signs and Symptoms of Asperger’s Syndrome

Obsession

Obsession [5] is a common condition for individuals with hyperfocus. The obsession is usually directed toward a specific topic. Note that people with AS usually direct their attention to the vocabulary related to that topic. Due to their level of interest, they may engage others in the discussion about their interest.

Obsession about certain things may lead to over engagement of people around. There are cases where an individual may be obsessed with certain things but doesn’t have the AS. For this reason, it’s important to consult a doctor for proper diagnosis.

In most cases, health professionals make social observations to diagnose the condition. The healthcare provider may ask questions to assess the person’s social skills to see how the symptoms affect their lives.
