Fish Oil

Fish oil contains omega-3-fatty acids. Over 50% of the brain consists of fats, and omega-3 fatty acids account for half of these fats. These fatty acids help develop membranes that surround the brain cells, enhancing the structure of the brain cells called neurons. Studies have shown that people who consume high levels of omega-3 have a better functioning brain due to the increase in gray matter in their brains, the cognitive and thinking abilities of people who consumed omega-3s are high compared to people who don’t. Examples of oil fish with omega-3s in high quantity are; salmon, trout, albacore tuna, mackerel, sardines, and herring. Omega-3s are also found in nuts, soybeans, flaxseed, and other seeds, so consumption of these foods increases the function of the brain. Inadequate omega-3s in the brain can lead to inability to learn fast, anxiety and depression.
