Meningitis B is a rare type of bacterial meningitis that causes swelling in the membranes and fluids to occupy the brain and spinal cord.  The same bacterial that causes meningitis B can also cause septicemia [1], which is a bloodstream infection also referred to as blood poisoning.

Meningitis is a chronic condition that needs immediate treatment to avoid serious complications, such as deafness, amputation, and death. Even with treatment some people may still experience severe side effects and death.
