Blood test

A blood test is taken. Blood from the affected area can also be taken to the lab to conduct a test on it. This test is crucial, especially if bursitis persists and appears to be more painful. The reason for a blood test of the affected area is to check whether or not bursitis has been infected.

It is vital to know if the bursae have been infected to treat them properly. The standard treatment for noninfectious bursitis does not apply and will not work for infectious bursitis. Another reason why taking a blood test is essential. It should be taken as soon as possible is to avoid a complicated situation of the infection suppressing the immune system and causing more damage.
