Common Symptoms of Cataracts

Change in Eye Color

It is common for the eyes of people with cataracts to change color [8]. As the disease progresses, this change becomes more and more noticeable. The lens particularly develops a different color from the usual transparent color it always had. This is due to the developing opacity of the lens, and if cataracts totally take over, the lens may often assume an opaque white color.  The clusters of protein tainting your lens can appear yellow or have a brown tint as cataracts advance. This results in the yellow hue of the light going into your eye. It looks almost like you are using “blue-blocker” sunglasses that block blue and violet light, as marketed on TV. It alters how you perceive colors and decreases your ability to note color differences accurately. You will be shocked to see the world in all of its colors again after corrective surgery for cataracts!
