Signs And Symptoms of Inner Ear Infection

Difficulty in hearing

Inner ear infections usually affect the part of the ear that is responsible for hearing and when this happens, you will likely experience difficulty in hearing.

During or after the initial infection, fluid can accumulate in the air-filled space behind the eardrum, which is known as otitis media [5]. This accumulation can reduce movement of the eardrum, thereby leading to trouble hearing. Mild difficulty in hearing that comes and goes is relatively common with an inner ear infection, but it usually clears up after the infection goes away.

Fluid drainage from the ear

Ear discharge is typically normal and natural for a healthy ear. However, an excess of clear fluid leaking from the ear can be the result of an underlying ear infection. [6]

In addition to pain or other common symptoms of an inner ear infection, fluid drainage or leakage from the ear may also accompany these symptoms.
