Risk Factors
Certain factors can increase the chances of burst blood vessels in the eye. They include:
- Age: Subconjunctival hemorrhages are most common in those over the age of 65. For those who have vascular diseases like high blood pressure or diabetes, this is especially true.
- Wearing contact lens: People who wear contact lenses are also more likely to experience subconjunctival hemorrhages. People who wear contact lenses are more likely to get conjunctival illnesses. Dryness and friction brought on by these illnesses might result in inflammation and blood vessel damage.
- Eye surgery: Subconjunctival hemorrhage is more likely to occur in those who have had eye surgery, such as cataract removal.
