Diagnosing Burst Blood Vessels in the Eye
Make an appointment with your eye doctor if you believe you have a broken blood vessel in your eye. The majority of the time, a straightforward eye exam is sufficient for an eye doctor to accurately diagnose a subconjunctival hemorrhage.
Your doctor may administer a series of tests to rule out other eye disorders that could be the source of the hemorrhaging if the cause is unknown. Your eye doctor will inquire about your past medical history, including any drugs you may have used, as well as any possible triggers for the rupture.
If trauma is the culprit, a more comprehensive examination will be done to make sure that no other eye structures have been harmed.
