Who is Most Likely to Develop Eye Twitching

While everybody can have temporary eyelid twitches, certain people are more susceptible to chronic ones:
- Sex: It’s unknown why, but men or persons designated male at birth (DMAB) are twice as likely to experience Meige syndrome and benign essential blepharospasm as women or people designated female at birth (DFAB).
- Genetics: The majority of instances include individuals who have never had a family history of benign essential blepharospasm. Studies indicate that certain families have a higher frequency of chronic benign essential blepharospasm, but geneticists have not yet determined which genes are inherited from these families. According to genetic research, the illness appears to be passed down from one affected parent to the next.
