How to Sleep with a Scratched Eye?

Tips to help recover from scratched eye

Corneal abrasion is a minor eye injury and can be healed in a few days if the right measures are put in place, these are some tips to heal a scratched eye

  • Blinking helps to bring out the little bits of sand or dirt in the eye, it is advised to blink often when you have a corneal abrasion.
  • Rubbing the eye will complicate the scratch, so avoid putting your hands in and rubbing the injured cornea.
  • Pull the upper eyelid over the lower eyelid. The eyelashes from the lower eyelid help to brush away the sand or dirt particles under the upper eyelid.
  • Wearing sunglasses helps to make it comfortable to move around with a scratched eye and helps to reduce the sunlight coming in and reducing the irritation.
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses with a scratched eye. Contact lens slows down the healing process of scratch and worsens it by causing contact lens-related eye infections [3].
