Microneedling Under The Eyes: Procedure, Cost and More

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling can be used in different forms. Experts say it boosts the production of collagen [5] and enhances blood circulation under the skin. If done properly it can improve the texture of your skin and boost the elasticity in the treated area. The needles used in this procedure are very small and they make small punctures in your skin. They are called “microwounds” and they don’t lead to lasting images of your skin. These wounds heal quickly, but before they do, your body stimulates a trigger response that is directed to the area. This response may come as a signal to your skin to make brand-new cells and capillaries [6].

Once the skin has healed from the microneedling procedure, you may start to notice that your skin is smoother, more even-tones, and more flexible. Inflammation, puffiness, and “bags” under the eyes may be less visible.

Most of the clinical trials that involve microneedling emphasize its effectiveness in treating scars and stretch marks. Eye bags and wrinkles are linked to collagen production, so it could also work at treating under-eye issues.
