Smoking Tobacco

People spend a lot of time smoking at campfires and cookouts during the summer. The smoke contains small particles that can cause inflammation and infection if they come in contact with the eye.
Also, smoke and other forms of air pollution can disrupt the eye health and exacerbate symptoms of dry eye. This occurs because wildfires and pollution increase the number of harmful substances in the air which include carbon monoxide [3] and particulate matter and this can lead to eye irritation [4] and pain
In 2008, experts examined how multiple occurrence of wildfires in Argentina affected people’s eyes. They discovered that exposure to wildfire smoke can elevate dry eye symptoms, especially for people with chronic dry eye. The symptoms of dry eye are more common in people that have been exposed to any form of air pollution.
