Risk factors of flat foot

Flat feet have commonly been traced to hereditary. That is you are more likely to have flat feet if the condition runs in your family. Flat feet can also occur due to foot or ankle injuries, which gives athletes or people who are physically active an increased risk of flat feet.
Older people who are prone to falls or physical injury are also more at risk. People with diseases that affect the muscle, such as cerebral palsy also have an increased risk.
Other risk factors include:
- obesity [5]
- pregnancy
- diabetes
- trauma to the feet
- developing a condition that can affect the tendons
- being of young age or being an older adult
