Flatfeet – Symptoms and Causes

Diagnosis for flat feet

Flat feet may not cause any pain or symptoms to you. In this case, you do not need to consult your doctor.

However, certain symptoms that arise from flat feet require a medical diagnosis. You should seek medical advice if you’re flat feet:

  • Only developed recently
  • Causes pain in the feet, ankles, or lower limbs
  • Causes symptoms that do not improve with supportive, well-fitted shoes
  • one or both feet becoming flattered
  • Is feeling rigid, stiff, heavy, and unwieldy

Most qualified healthcare professionals can diagnose fallen arches by examining the feet and observing the individual standing and walking.

Your doctor will conduct a physical examination of the feet from the front and back. You’ll be instructed to stand on the feet of your toes, so the shape and functionality of each foot can be inspected.

A doctor will also consider the person’s medical history. They may order an X-ray, CT scan, MRI scan, or electromyography [6] in some cases.
