Heel Pain: Causes, Prevention, and Treatments

Háglund’s deformity

The rear of the heel has a bony growth known as Haglund’s deformity. It happens when shoes brush on the back of the heel, causing the bony protrusion and surrounding tissue to become irritated.

Hard-backed footwear such as pumps and shoes can put pressure on the heel’s back, aggravating the Haglund deformity. Because of this, this condition is frequently referred to as a “pump bump.”
