Heel bursitis
At the back of the heel, in the bursa, a fibrous sac that contains fluid, inflammation can develop. A hard or abrupt landing on the heels or pressure from the footwear might cause this problem.
This pain may be felt at the back of the heel or deep inside the heel.
Tarsal tunnel disorder
Tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS) [2], a major nerve at the rear of the foot is compressed by tissue, causing discomfort.
Ankle or foot compression neuropathy is one possible location for this condition.
