Tendinitis of the ankle

The big tendon in the back of the heel can become inflamed, which is known as achilles tendinitis [3].
The most frequent causes of Achilles tendonitis are overuse and trauma. Tendinopathy or tendinosis are other terms used to describe tendinitis.
Other causes
Additional factors for heel discomfort include:
- ruptured achilles tendon
- injury to the plantar fascia
- Baxter’s nerve entrapment
- Cysts [4] or a calcaneal stress fracture
- Systemic arthritic bone bruise
- short flexor tendon tear
- soft tissue mass
- issues with the circulation
- improper posture when walking or jogging
- osteomyelitis
- an infection of the bone or bone marrow
- Morton’s neuroma [5]
- fluid-filled cyst in a bone
